Fighting fraud with data mining

We did recently read about how Australian agency is using data mining to catch fraud. Now its Los Angeles County which has taken a step to prevent fraud using data mining. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors  approved a contract to employ high-tech solutions to detect child care benefits fraud.

“This technology will be a vital tool in our effort to prevent public assistance fraud and enhance the District Attorney’s fraud investigations,” said Supervisor Michael Antonovich.

But the big question which remains open is whether this just sticks to a certain program, or expands to address all programmes offered by the County where data mining based patterns would discover additional knowledge.
